As a breast cancer survivor I always wanted to give back and do more for the community of survivors, sisters and brothers.  I started giving back and paying it forward first, telling my survivor stories and then, journaled them in a book entitled “My Pain Woke Me Up: BLISS!”  This survivor story documents my life from my youthful days of widowhood, love, marriage and children, to breast cancer, divorce and unemployment simultaneously, ultimately finding the silver lining with the pursuit of happiness with all joys in my life post-recovery.

I’m not saying my life has been a bowl of cherries by any stretch of the imagination.  In fact, it’s been quite the opposite, but somehow I seemed to have pushed forward to keep a positive attitude.  I’d like to share my colorful story with New Focus Daily readers and hope my journey inspires you in some way.  It may educate you, be used as a resource guide, or you may appreciate the tips for breast cancer survivors going thru their own personal experience from diagnosis thru recovery.   Just know there are many sister survivors out there just like me, here to support you.  Learn to reach out and build your pink circle (network).

Keep calm because didn’t you know that Pink is the new Black!  I love it.

Think pink and be smart about your breast health and wellness choices.   Guidance and decision-making is up to you and you, too, can live a BLISS-ful life post-recovery. My Pain Woke Me UP:  BLISS! is a survivor’s tale of love, life, breat cancer, and the pursuit of happiness.

BLISS is the first in a three-book trilogy series written as a fictionalized account of true story.  BLISS outlines the knockdown punches life has thrown Jean’s way and what it took to get back up off the mat.  How Jean dealt with difficult challenges resulting in a stronger, more courageous and confident woman.  It’s a story of inspiration, passion, perseverance, persistence and the . . . promise to survive. BLISS discusses the painful journey I experienced as a young widow, and then during my battle with breast cancer, and on my road to recovery with the pursuit of happiness. My determination has been to help raise awareness and my passion to find a cure to end breast cancer forever, which grew stronger as my pain woke me up!
